MyRide Travel Training (myRide) is a support program that prepares people to make safe, independent journeys using public transit. MyRide responds to individual needs and abilities, with services ranging from familiarization group sessions on how to use transit, to intensive one-on-one sessions to provide essential skills and verify that the trainee can safely and independently use transit for important trips.
Travel training can empower people to use transit so they can travel spontaneously, become more independent and improve their quality of life. By encouraging transit use, travel training enables people to participate more fully in their community.
MyRide is for people of all ages and abilities who need additional knowledge and skills in order to use YRT/Viva services effectively. The following groups are potential candidates for the myRide program:
The myRide program is also offered to Mobility Plus registrants to help them learn how to use YRT/Viva services. By participating, registered Mobility Plus users do not lose eligibility for Mobility Plus door-to-door service, even if they use conventional transit services for a portion of their trips.
