April YRT/Viva monthly passes, tickets available now

Get your monthly pass or set of 10 tickets before free service ends Saturday, March 31

The Regional Municipality of York advises residents that April monthly passes and YRT/Viva tickets are available for purchase before free service ends Saturday, March 31. Fares are required to board all YRT/Viva services starting Sunday, April 1.

Where can I get YRT/Viva tickets and passes?

  • April monthly passes and sets of 10 tickets are available at all multiRide machines located at YRT/Viva terminals and the YRT/Viva office at 50 High Tech Road in the Town of Richmond Hill 
  • Tickets and passes are available at ticket agent vendors throughout the Region, but quantities are limited at some locations - visit the Where to Buy page for contact details and please call ahead 
  • Single-ride tickets from oneRide machines at terminals and vivastations are not available until Sunday, April 1  
  • If you purchased a February monthly pass, it will be honoured throughout the month of April

What about PRESTO?

  • PRESTO electronic fare cards can be purchased online at www.prestocard.ca or at the YRT/Viva office at 50 High Tech Road in the Town of Richmond Hill 
  • Re-load or register your existing card at the YRT/Viva office or www.prestocard.ca  
  • Stay tuned for upcoming spring PRESTO events throughout the Region where you can activate and register a fee-waived PRESTO card on-the-spot

Sets of 10 tickets and monthly passes continue to offer the best value for frequent YRT/Viva riders. Riders can save up to 20 per cent by switching from cash to tickets. Monthly passes, GTA Weekly Passes and frequently-used PRESTO cards are eligible for the Federal Transit Tax Credit, saving riders even more at tax time.

Free service on all YRT/Viva services remains available until Saturday, March 31. York Region thanks residents for their patience during the phased-in return of YRT/Viva service.

April monthly passes available for purchase at terminals
beginning March 18

YRT/Viva tickets and monthly passes for April will be available for purchase at multiRide machines beginning Sunday, March 18. MultiRide machines are located at YRT/Viva terminals.

Single ride tickets from oneRide machines (located at vivastations and YRT/Viva terminals) will not be available until Sunday, April 1.

Free transit service continues to be available on all YRT/Viva services until March 31. Beginning April 1, payment will be required to board YRT/Viva services.


All YRT/Viva services have been fully restored

Free transit service continues to be available to welcome riders back to YRT/Viva until March 31. No cash, tickets or passes are required for any YRT/Viva services through March 31. Free rides also apply to Dial-a-Ride, Mobility Plus, TTC routes operating within York Region, GO Route 69 - Sutton GO Bus operating within York Region and YRT routes that were still operating in the Southwest Division throughout the strike.

Monthly passes for February 2012 will be honoured in April or can be returned for a refund at YRT/Viva's head office (50 High Tech Road, Town of Richmond Hill). More information on returning your February 2012 Monthly Pass for a refund is available below.

February 2012 Monthly Pass refunds

If you have already purchased a monthly pass for February 2012, it can be used during the month of April or can be returned to YRT/Viva's head office for a full refund. All February 2012 Monthly Pass refund requests must be received no later than March 31, 2012.

There will be no cash refunds or exchanges. Customers may request a refund by mailed cheque or a credit towards the purchase of other YRT/Viva fare media.

Credit requests towards the purchase of other fare media can only be made in person at the YRT/Viva head office. Refund requests can be made in person at the YRT/Viva head office or by mail. Refunds are not available at Ticket Agent locations. Refund and credit amounts will be determined by YRT/Viva staff. Please allow two to three weeks for processing. 

For refund and credit requests in person, visit the YRT/Viva head office Monday to Friday, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at 50 High Tech Road, 5th floor, Town of Richmond Hill
 
For refund requests by mail, please read and follow these steps carefully:

  • YRT/Viva February 2012 Monthly Passes must be mailed by March 31, 2012 to qualify for a refund 
  • The date stamped on the envelope must be on or before March 31, 2012 
  • These passes are not eligible for a tax credit
  •  The original pass must be mailed in*
  • A cheque will be mailed to you 
  • Please include your full name and mailing address
  • Please allow two to three weeks for processing 
  • There are no cash refunds
  • YRT is not responsible for postage or lost mail

Refunds are only available for the YRT/Viva February 2012 Monthly Pass. No refunds for GTA Weekly Passes.
