Viva blue

  • Based on Run Time Review Committee recommendations, weekday, Saturday and Sunday/Holiday schedules will be adjusted to better reflect actual travel times.
  • In response to customer demand, Viva blue weekday service will now begin at approximately 4:50 a.m.
 

Viva blue "A"

  • To accommodate increasing ridership, Viva blue “A” will now operate 11 southbound morning rush hour trips and 13 northbound afternoon rush hour trips between Newmarket GO Bus Terminal and Finch GO Bus Terminal, bypassing Richmond Hill Centre Terminal.
  • Based on Run Time Review Committee recommendations, schedules will be adjusted to better reflect actual travel times.
  • Morning trips departing Newmarket GO Bus Terminal to Finch GO Bus Terminal:
    • 5:50 a.m.
    • 6:00 a.m.
    • 6:20 a.m.

Viva purple

  • Viva purple will now service the new Galsworthy vivastation on Highway 7 between McCowan Rd. and Main St. Markham.

Viva pink

  • Based on Run Time Review Committee recommendations, weekday schedules will be adjusted to better reflect actual travel times.
  • Weekday frequency will improve to every 10 minutes to reflect seasonal travel patterns.

Viva orange

  • Viva orange is partnering with the Brampton Transit’s new Züm rapid transit service to offer integrated weekday, Saturday and Sunday/Holiday service at a combined service frequency of 7.5 minutes between Martin Grove Rd. and York University.
  • Note: From September 7 to 19, Züm service will be operated by conventional Brampton Transit vehicles with "Route 177" shown on the destination sign. Züm-branded vehicles will be in service beginning September 20.
  • Effective August 22, in addition to valid YRT/Viva fare media, customers may use a valid TTC pass (Day, GTA, Weekly or Monthly Metropass) or valid TTC transfer when travelling on Viva orange between York University and Downsview Station.

YRT ROUTE & SCHEDULE CHANGES
(effective September 5th)

Route 1 – Highway 7

  • Based on Run Time Review Committee recommendations, weekday, Saturday and Sunday/Holiday schedules will be adjusted to better reflect actual travel times.
  • With the start of the new school year, the weekday westbound 3:20 p.m. trip from Markham Stouffville Hospital will start from Markham District High School at 3:05 p.m.
  • Effective Monday, July 5, the first weekday westbound Route 1 trip departing Markham Stouffville Hospital at 5:05 a.m. will depart five minutes earlier at 5 a.m. This change is being implemented to address customer concerns regarding the Route 1 connection with Viva blue at Richmond Hill Centre Terminal.

  • The Route 2 diversion to Middlefield/Highglen will be reinstated for the new school year.

  • Route 2A trips and diversions to Father Michael McGivney Catholic Academy and Markham District High School (MDHS) will be reinstated for the new school year.

Route 4 – Major Mackenzie

  • One morning and one afternoon weekday Route 4 trip will divert to McNaughton Rd. to accommodate St. Joan of Arc Catholic High School students:
    • The weekday eastbound 7:42 a.m. trip will arrive at St. Joan of Arc CHS at approx. 7:59 a.m.
    • The weekday westbound 2:05 p.m. trip will arrive at St. Joan of Arc CHS at approx. 2:38 p.m.
    • Minor Route 4 weekday schedule adjustments.

  • Based on Run Time Review Committee recommendations, weekday schedules will be adjusted to better reflect actual travel times.

Route 9 – 9th Line

  • In response to customer demand, the northbound 10 a.m. trip and the southbound 11:45 a.m. and 8:20 p.m. trips will be reinstated.
  • To improve the connection with Route 303 – Bur Oak, the 5:35 p.m. trip from Markham Stouffville Hospital will now depart five minutes later at 5:40 p.m.
  • The diversion to Markham District High School along Church St. will be reinstated for the new school year.
  • There will be minor schedule adjustments.

  • Weekday rush hour frequency will improve to every 30 minutes for the new school year.

Route 15 – Stouffville Local

  • In response to customer demand, the eastbound 10:15 a.m., 10:50 a.m., 11:35 a.m. and 8:10 p.m. trips will be reinstated.
  • The westbound 10:30 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. trips will also be reinstated.

Route 18 – Bur Oak

  • Based on Run Time Review Committee recommendations, weekday schedules will be adjusted to better reflect actual travel times.
  • Minor weekday midday schedule adjustments.
  • One weekday morning and three weekday afternoon trips will operate the White’s Hill/Cornell Rouge diversion to accommodate area high school students:
    • Westbound 7:29 a.m.
    • Eastbound 2:58 p.m., 3:10 p.m., 3:10 p.m.

Route 20 – Jane-Concord

  • Route 20 service into Canada’s Wonderland will be adjusted to reflect the park’s fall operating hours.
  • Route 20 weekday service into Canada’s Wonderland will be suspended after Labour Day, Monday, Sept. 6.
  • Effective Tuesday, Sept. 7, Canada’s Wonderland will be open weekends and holidays only until Oct. 31.

Route 22 – King City

  • Based on Run time Review Committee recommendations, weekday schedules will be adjusted to better reflect actual travel times:
    • The weekday southbound 7:27 a.m. trip will now depart two minutes earlier at 7:25 a.m.
    • The weekday northbound 8:05 a.m. trip will depart three minutes later at 8:08 a.m.
  • To better accommodate St. Thomas of Villanova College students, the weekday morning trip to the school will now arrive earlier at approx. 7:47 a.m. The afternoon trip will depart the school later at approx. 3:05 p.m.
  • Route 22 southern routing will be adjusted to end at the new bus stop facility on the west end of Eagle Rock Way, adjacent to the Maple GO Station. This change will improve GO Train connections and reduce walking distances.

NEW! Route 22A – King City

  • New Route 22A is being introduced in response to the cancellation of GO Transit’s Route 64 – Newmarket-York U. GO Bus service.
  • Route 22A will operate nine southbound and nine northbound weekday trips between Newmarket GO Bus Terminal and York University during periods where GO Train service is unavailable.

Route 31 – Aurora North

  • The 3:06 p.m. northbound trip diverting to Aurora High School and the 2:40 p.m. northbound trip from St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic High School will be reinstated for the new school year.

Route 32 – Aurora South

  • To accommodate Cardinal Carter Catholic High School students from the Murray Dr. and McClellan Way area, one morning and one afternoon weekday trip will be modified to service the school:
    • The 7:29 a.m. southbound trip from Bayview Ave. and Stone Rd. will now depart at 7:21 a.m., diverting to arrive at Cardinal Carter CHS at approx. 7:58 a.m.
    • The 2:48 p.m. northbound trip from Bathurst St. and McClellan Way will now depart from Cardinal Carter CHS at 2:35 p.m., travelling north on McClellan Way (this trip only)
  • The 2:35 p.m. weekday northbound trip from St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic High School will be reinstated for the new school year.
  • To accommodate ridership, midday Dial-a-Ride service will be reverted to regular service. No changes for evening Dial-a-Ride service.
  • To improve GO Train connections at Aurora GO Station, the 6:13 a.m. weekday northbound trip will now depart three minutes earlier at 6:10 a.m. and the 6:41 a.m. weekday southbound trip will now depart three minutes earlier at 6:38 a.m.
  • The 6:16 p.m. and 6:58 p.m. southbound weekday evening trips from Bayview Ave. and Stone Rd. will divert to meet GO Trains at Aurora GO Station.

Route 44 – Bristol-London

  • A new 7:40 a.m. weekday northbound morning trip will be introduced and will extend to Sacred Heart Catholic High School to accommodate students travelling from the Bristol-London area.
  • The 2:22 p.m. weekday southbound trip from Davis Dr. and Main St. will now depart from Sacred Heart CHS at 2:35 p.m.
  • The 2:45 p.m. weekday northbound trip from Davis Dr. and Main St. will now depart at 2:55 p.m.
  • The 3:09 p.m. weekday southbound trip from Davis Dr. and Main St. will now depart at 3:12 p.m.

Route 51 – Keswick Local

  • Route 51 routing in both directions will be adjusted to service Keswick Marketplace at Glenwoods Ave. and Woodbine Ave.
  • All Route 51 trips will now divert to travel along Glenwoods Ave., turning back via the Glenwoods Park ‘n’ Ride bus loop.
  • Morning and afternoon rush hour frequency will be adjusted to every 35 minutes.
  • Midday and late evening weekday frequency will be adjusted to every 65 minutes.
  • Saturday frequency will be adjusted to every 65 minutes.

Route 53 – Woodspring-Clearmeadow

Effective September 7, to accommodate students travelling to Sir William Mulock High School, the weekday southbound 7:12 a.m. trip departing Yonge St. and Green Lane will be extended to drop students off at the school, arriving at approx. 7:45 am.

Route 54 – Bayview

  • In an effort to eliminate confusion when boarding our buses, north and south directional references are being removed from YRT/Viva route names.
  • Route 54 – Bayview North will be renamed Route 54 – Bayview.
  • Route 54 routing in the Doug Duncan Dr./Water St. area will be adjusted due to long-term construction on Doug Duncan Dr. Schedules will not be affected.

Route 55 – Davis Drive

The Route 55 weekday westbound 7 a.m. trip will now depart four minutes earlier at 6:56 a.m. to accommodate Newmarket High School and Sacred Heart Catholic High School students travelling from the Leslie Valley area.

Route 55B – Davis Drive

  • The following trips will be adjusted to accommodate Newmarket High School and Sacred Heart Catholic High School students travelling from the Leslie Valley area:
    • The Route 55B weekday eastbound 7:15 a.m. trip will now depart five minutes earlier at 7:10 a.m.
    • The weekday westbound 2:55 p.m. trip will now depart six minutes later at 3:01 p.m.

Route 57A – Mulock Drive

  • The Route 57A weekday westbound 7:30 a.m. trip will now depart seven minutes later at 7:37 a.m. to accommodate Newmarket High School and Sacred Heart Catholic High School students travelling from the Leslie Valley area.

  • In an effort to eliminate confusion when boarding our buses, north and south directional references are being removed from YRT/Viva route names.
  • Route 58 – Leslie North will be renamed Route 58 – Leslie.

Route 69 – Sutton GO Bus

  • All weekday southbound trips between 6:30 a.m. and 5:40 p.m. from Queensville Sdrd. and Leslie St. will now depart one minute earlier.
  • The weekday southbound 8:50 a.m. trip from Sutton will now depart five minutes later at 8:55 a.m.
  • There will be minor schedule adjustments for all weekday northbound trips and all weekend southbound and northbound trips to better reflect actual travel times.

Route 77 – Highway 7-Centre

  • Route 77 weekday, Saturday and Sunday/Holiday routing and schedule adjustments will occur as a result of new integrated rapid transit services between Viva orange and Brampton Transit Züm.
  • Effective Tuesday, Sept. 7, all Route 77 trips will now be operated by YRT. Route 77 routing and service in the west will now end at The Gore Rd. (near the York Region/Brampton boundary at Highway 50). Route 77 will also service the industrial area along Fogal Rd. and Zenway Blvd. in Vaughan.
  • For customers travelling to/from Brampton, the transfer point between YRT Route 77 and Brampton Transit Route 1 will be at the northwest corner of Highway 7 and Highway 50. Both YRT/Viva and Brampton Transit transfers will be accepted from this transfer point on either service.
  • The new Viva/Züm integrated service will offer a combined service frequency of 7.5 minutes between Martin Grove Rd. and York University, seven days a week. As a result, Route 77 frequencies will be adjusted as follows:
    • Weekday morning and afternoon rush hours: approx. every 20 minutes
    • Weekday midday and evening: approx. every 30 minutes
    • Saturday: approx. every 30 minutes
    • Sunday: approx. every 45 minutes
  • Brampton-operated Route 77A service to York University will be replaced by the new Züm service.

Route 81 – Inspiration

  • To accommodate students travelling to Aurora High School, the 7:15 a.m. trip from Bernard Terminal will now leave two minutes earlier at 7:13 a.m. to provide a better connection with Viva blue.

  • The weekday southbound 7:14 p.m. trip from Richmond Green High School will now depart at 7:19 p.m. to connect with an adjusted GO Train trip.

  • Minor afternoon rush hour schedule adjustments.
  • Route 91B routing will be restructured to operate on Old Colony Rd., Yonge St., Worthington Ave., Wood Rim Dr., North Lake Rd. and along Bayview Ave. to Richmond Hill Centre Terminal.

Route 520/521 – Newmarket Community Bus

  • Route 520/521 routing will divert to service the new Stronach Regional Cancer Centre adjacent to Southlake Regional Health Centre.
  • There will be minor schedule adjustments.
  • To accommodate the recent increase in service locations, service frequency in both directions will be adjusted to every 120 minutes.
  • Route 521 will no longer service bus stop #2590 at Davis Dr. and Prospect St.

HIGH SCHOOL SPECIALS
(effective September 5th)
  • All school specials (400 series) and route diversions to schools will be reinstated effective Tuesday, September 7th for the new school year, unless otherwise noted below. The following school specials also have revised routes/schedules, or start earlier:

Route 414 – Unionville/Bill Crothers School Special

  • Route 414 will be reinstated August 9th for the first day of classes at Bill Crothers Secondary School.
  • Route 414 routing will be extended to also operate between Parkview Village and Markham Stouffville Hospital along 9th Line.

Route 424 – Keswick School Special

  • Route 424 will be reinstated August 30th for the first day of classes at Keswick High School.

NEW! Route 429 – Cardinal Carter/Aurora High School Special (formerly Route 443 – Cardinal Carter School Special)

  • Route 443 will be renamed Route 429 and will be restructured to accommodate students travelling from the Snively St. and Worthington Ave. area to Cardinal Carter Catholic High School and Aurora High School (morning only).
  • New Route 429 will not service Aurora High School in the afternoon.

Route 462 – Maple High School Special

  • Route 462 will be reinstated August 30th for the first day of classes at Maple High School.

TTC IN YORK REGION ROUTE AND SCHEDULE CHANGES
(effective September 5th)

Contracted TTC routes operating in York Region will have seasonal service levels reinstated. Visit ttc.ca for more information on TTC services.

TTC Route 102D – Markham Road North

  • The 9:28 a.m. southbound trip will now depart five minutes earlier at 9:25 a.m.
  • The 9:50 a.m. southbound trip will now depart four minutes later at 9:54 a.m.
  • There will be five new northbound trips and four new southbound trips.
  • Sunday/Holiday service frequency will be adjusted from every 60 minutes to every 56 minutes in the morning and every 55 minutes in the afternoon.

TTC Route 165D – Weston Road North

  • Minor service frequency adjustments south of Steeles in the City of Toronto may apply to trips operating in York Region.
GO TRANSIT IN YORK REGION
(effective September 5th)

61 – Richmond Hill GO Train

  • Effective September 4, Richmond Hill GO Train departures from Union Station at 6:40 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. will now depart at 6:45 p.m. and 7:40 p.m. YRT GO Shuttles will be impacted. Visit gotransit.com for more information on GO Transit services.

69 – Sutton GO Bus

  • All weekday southbound trips between 6:30 a.m. and 5:40 p.m. from Queensville Sdrd. and Leslie St. will now depart one minute earlier.
  • The weekday southbound 8:50 a.m. trip from Sutton will now depart five minutes later at 8:55 a.m.
  • There will be minor schedule adjustments for all weekday northbound trips and all weekend southbound and northbound trips to better reflect actual travel times.
BRAMPTON TRANSIT IN YORK REGION
(effective September 5th)

Züm

  • New Brampton Transit Züm will operate between downtown Brampton and York University along the Queen Street corridor in Brampton and Highway 7 in York Region.
  • Integrated service between Viva orange and Züm will provide a combined service frequency of 7.5 minutes between Martin Grove Rd. and York University on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays/Holidays.
