Improved On-Request service available in your area

On-Request is a ride-sharing service that allows you to request transit when and where you need it, within select service areas.

On-Request now offers more travel options within our expanded service areas where York Region Transit (YRT) routes are not available. If a route is available, On-Request will drop you off at the nearest bus stop so you can seamlessly continue your trip.

In December 2023, York Regional Council approved the 2024 budget which includes a 3% annual transit fare increase effective on July 1, 2024. This is the first fare increase since 2019 and will help to address the rising costs of running the transit system. Costs of operating the transit system have been going up over the last five years due to rising fuel costs, insurance, and operation and maintenance costs.

Learn more about transit services and road improvement projects in your community, and pick up some swag while you're at it. YRT system maps, York Region cycling maps and foldable paper buses will also be available.

Transfer for free between YRT and TTC starting February 26

Starting Monday, February 26, 2024, Ontario’s One Fare Program will provide transit riders with free transfers when connecting to and from the TTC and York Region Transit (YRT), using a PRESTO card, credit, debit or PRESTO in Google Wallet.

Need help paying for Transit? TAP can help

York Region is offering the Transit Assistance Program (TAP) to help make transit more affordable for eligible residents.

Eligible TAP participants can receive a 50% discount on regular adult single ride YRT fare using a PRESTO card. This includes a two-hour transfer window. After 40 trips, rides are free for unlimited travel for the remainder of the calendar month.
