YRT offers several payment options to purchase your YRT fare. Learn more about our payment options below.
PRESTO is the smart card fare option for YRT. With a PRESTO card, you won't have to worry about buying bus tickets or having correct change to ride YRT.
With PRESTO in Mobile Wallet, you can tap your phone or smartwatch to pay for transit!
With PRESTO contactless payment you can tap your credit or debit card, including in a mobile wallet, on a PRESTO device to pay your YRT fare.
PRESTO E-Tickets allows travellers to purchase YRT e-tickets anywhere, anytime, through the convenience of their smartphones.

Do On-Request and Mobility On-Request Paratransit services accept PRESTO? |
Yes. All payment methods are accepted on all On-Request and Mobility On-Request Paratransit services (PRESTO, credit and debit card, PRESTO E-Tickets and exact cash). |
Can I use my PRESTO card to pay for a companion? |
Only on Local (conventional) YRT routes. To pay for additional passengers, you must tell the driver before you tap on. Additional adult epurse fare(s) will be deducted from your card balance. The driver will provide a paper transfer to the travelling companion. For cross-boundary travel, companions must pay the full fare when transferring to other transit services. To receive the co-fare between YRT and GO Transit, each traveller must have their own PRESTO card. This option is not available on Viva, Mobility On-Request or TTC routes operating in York Region. |
What fare is required for TTC routes operating in York Region (north of Steeles Avenue)? |
When travelling on a TTC route operating north of Steeles Avenue in York Region, you must pay YRT fare. PRESTO, PRESTO E-Tickets, credit, debit, or exact change will be accepted. Customers travelling on TTC routes south of Steeles Avenue or the TTC subway must pay TTC fare. |
Does YRT accept PRESTO contactless payment (credit and debit card)? |
