Ticket Vending Machines (TVM) allow travellers to purchase single fare tickets at terminals and vivastations throughout York Region. As of January 1, 2025, we will only accept exact cash payments at TVMs. Credit and debit cards will no longer be accepted as payment options at TVMs, however, you may continue to pay your fare using your credit or debit card at the PRESTO machines. For more information, please visit our Credit and Debit Card page.

Why did you stop accepting debit and credit cards as a form of payment on TVMs?

PRESTO Machines accept debit and credit cards and have been installed at terminals and vivastations throughout the Region. Removing duplicate credit and debit card acceptance helps streamline operations while maintaining customer service.

 

Will the option to pay cash be removed too?

No, you will still be able to purchase tickets with cash. There are no plans to remove TVM machines from terminals and vivastations as they continue to allow travellers to purchase tickets using cash (exact change only).
