On-Request is a ride-sharing service that allows you to request transit when and where you need it, within select service areas.

On-Request now offers more travel options within our expanded service areas where York Region Transit (YRT) routes are not available. If a route is available, On-Request will drop you off at the nearest bus stop so you can seamlessly continue your trip.

You can now travel to/from any address if a YRT route is not available for the following services:

  • On-Request Newmarket-Aurora-Oak Ridges
  • On-Request Holland Landing-Mount Albert
  • On-Request King
  • On-Request Kleinburg-Nashville
  • On-Request North
  • On-Request Stouffville

We have also extended hours across some services to help with your travel needs, allowing for greater flexibility in your day.

Book a trip today, to get you from your home to any address or select location using the new YRT On-Request App, available on the App Store and Google Play. You may also call 1-844-667-5327 and a Customer Service Representative will assist you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why did YRT make these changes to the On-Request service?
The YRT On-Request app launched last November, and the technology made bookings more efficient. This allowed YRT to expand service areas and offer address-to-address options , rather than limiting travel to select locations. The new app improved connectivity between On-Request and fixed bus routes and helped reduce the duplication of transit in York Region.

Routes and On-Request services are continuously monitored and reviewed for improvements. If you have any questions or feedback, contact us at 1-866-MOVE-YRT (668-3978), email transitinfo@york.ca or Live Chat with us.

Why aren’t you providing service from Mount Albert to the 404 Town Centre anymore?

On-Request has discontinued service to the 404 Town Centre because there is a fixed bus route, Route 50 – Queensway, that can take travellers there.

Travellers are now able to go from any address in the service area to any other address within the service area unless there is a fixed bus route available to get them to their destination. If there is a fixed route available, On-Request will drop them off at the closest bus stop to their pick-up address. This means that travellers can be picked up at their home address and then dropped off at the closest bus stop for Route 50 – Queensway, which will then drop them off at the 404 Town Centre plaza.
